This edition will be even more special thanks to the presence of a big name in Swiss sport. Dario Cologna will be at the start of the 21 Km Half Marathon, as part of a project promoted by Ascona-Locarno Tourism. The cross-country skiing legend, winner of four Olympic gold medals and four overall World Cup titles, will run side by side with the participants through the streets of the region.

Born in 1986 in Val Müstair, in the canton of Graubünden, Cologna is considered the greatest Swiss cross-country skier of all time. He won Olympic gold in the 15 km at Vancouver 2010, added a double at Sochi 2014 (skiathlon and 15 km classic) and claimed his fourth title at PyeongChang 2018, again in the 15 km. His record also includes four overall World Cup victories (2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015), four Tour de Ski wins and a world title in the skiathlon, won in Val di Fiemme in 2013.

Since ending his competitive career in 2022, Cologna has stayed connected to endurance sport and the outdoor life. Now he brings his experience and passion to the shores of Lake Maggiore, giving runners and fans a unique chance to share the course with one of the greatest champions in Swiss sport.
